DCLM Sincere Milk 13 April 2023 — My help my hope

DCLM Sincere Milk  13 April 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — My help my hope

TOPIC: MY HELP AND MY HOPE

BIBLE TEXT: PSALM 146:1-5

1Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

2While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

3Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

5Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

KEY VERSE: “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God” (Psalm 146:5).

MESSAGE:

There is one thing every child needs: that is, help. Help is the assistance or support that we receive from someone when we are in need or have difficulty. We are always happy when someone shows up to give us a helping hand.

However, what gives us more joy should not be that we have received help now, but that we have the confidence or hope that someone will always be there to help us in time of need. This gives us peace and courage. If receiving help from ordinary men gives relief and joy, what of receiving help from God Almighty?

Someone is considered blessed or happy when he or she has God Almighty as his or her Helper. Unlike people who cannot always be there for us, there is assurance that God will always be ready to help His people. You will never find a more dependable Helper than the God of Jacob. He is ready to answer when you call. He is always willing to meet all your needs. Let your hope rest in the Lord. He will show up to help you in your time of need.

PRAYER: Please Lord, do not forsake me. Always arise to help me whenever I am in need.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
