TOPIC: MY PIGGY BANK
TEXT: GENESIS 41:34-37
35And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
36And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
37And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
Key Verse: “Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years” (Genesis 41:34).
MESSAGE:
“Save for a rainy day” is an idiomatic expression commonly used by many people, but rarely put into practice. A “rainy day” in this expression stands for “a period of scarcity, want, need or challenges of any form”. To the ant, a rainy day is a day to stay indoors or else it may be washed away by flood, thus, the ant saves ahead of time for a rainy day.

Many children find it difficult to save, they feel the money is too small, and thus decide to eat it up. This is a very bad attitude. If you save as little as #10 (a Nigerian denomination) in your piggy bank every day for a year, you will have #3,650; and if you save #50 per day, you will have #18,250. This money can be used to solve some problems, especially at the beginning of a new school year when your parents find it challenging to meet all your needs for school.
Pharaoh, in our text, through the advice of Joseph, saved one-fifth of all their produce against the years of famine that was ahead. What they saved kept them and the nations around them alive during the famine. Get a piggy bank today and begin to save for the rainy day. You can save from your pocket money and gifts of money you receive from people.
Prayer: Dear Father, help me to be prudent, and wisely save for the future.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
