TOPIC: No Breaking Point! (DCLM Daily Manna 6 April 2024)

KEY VERSE: “My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live” (Job 27:6).

TEXT: Job 27:1-10 (KJV)

1 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

2 As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul;

3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils;

4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.

5 God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.

6 My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

7 Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.

8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?

9 Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?

10 Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God?

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

One means by which the enemy tries to get a captive or a prisoner of war to reveal a secret or recount his stand is by subjecting him to intense suffering and torture. It is believed that everyone has a breaking point (the extent or limit to which he can bear or withstand pain before eventually caving in). This method has on several occasions been adopted by persecutors to get Christians to deny their faith. The form or nature of the torture could either be physical or psychological. Often, only very few are able to withstand such ordeal without breaking down.

This is the same method employed by Satan in the case of Job. But neither the physical affliction from Satan nor the emotional and psychological torture from his friends and closet companion (his wife) would break him. In the text, we read of his very strong resolve to hold on to his integrity and righteousness in spite of his sufferings. What a challenge to every one of us!

Unfortunately, some Christians do not have this strong resolve and determination of Job. Many easily give up when they face a little illness, financial difficulty or delay in getting a life partner, having children, employment or promotion in the place of work.

How is it with you? We must understand that while in this world, the devil will not give up his attempt to get us to recant our faith and deny the Lord. There may be physical sufferings in form of pains, sicknesses and at times, physical attacks and tortures or psychological and emotional traumas in forms of wants, lacks, denials of rights and privileges, rejections, etc. Whatever it may be, we must resolve like Job that we will not be broken. And like the Lord eventually turned the captivity of Job to the shame of the devil, He will turn our own captivity as we remain unbroken by suffering.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Great men are made strong by suffering.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
