DCLM Sincere Milk 6 July 2025 — No Eye Service Please!

DCLM Sincere Milk 6 July 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — No Eye Service Please!

Topic: No Eye Service Please!

Text: Ephesians 6:5-9

5Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

6Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

7With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

8Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

9And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

Key Verse: “Not with eyeservice, as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;” Ephesians 6:6

Message

Mary’s mom asked her to wash the plates, clean the kitchen and arrange the wardrobe. Mary said “yes, ma” and quickly went in to put together the plates into the basin, but as soon as the mom stepped out to go to the grocery store, Mary left what she was instructed to do. She then went to the backyard to play with their neighbour’s children. When Mary’s mom got back home she was disappointed at Mary’s attitude.

Sometimes, children do things just to make others happy. But God tells us to focus on pleasing Him instead of trying to impress people. Whether we are doing anything for God in the church, homework, helping at home, or being kind to others, we should do it with joy knowing that we are making God super proud! He takes delight in seeing us give our best, even when no one else is watching. Give of your best to the Master and whatever service you render should be from your heart.

When we make pleasing God our top goal, He showers us with His blessings! Therefore, you must be determined to do what is right at the right time without eyeservice. God will then honour and bless you.

Prayer for today: Oh God, help me to please You in whatever I do.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
