Topic: No Ideal Time For Idleness

Text : Matthew 20:1-7

1For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

2And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

3And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

4And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.

5Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.

6And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

7They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.

Key Verse: “And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle” (Matthew 20:6)?

Message

The eleventh hour workers have only one working hour left. They wasted precious working hours on the excuse of “no man hath hired us.” Such people often remain on the waiting list till the whole man hours are spent in idleness.

God expects all His children to be engaged in profitable labour every moment of the day. Loitering, unprofitable visitation, excessive video games and gaming machines, idle chatting on social media or “talk of the lips” are preoccupations of idlers. Holidays and weekends are to be well planned with profitable activities well spelt out.  Whatever will not add value to a believer’s life should be avoided at all cost.  “Occupy till I come” is the Lord’s command. Christian youths are to be resourceful, enterprising and be able to think of what needs to be done to make every moment of life count. You have an urgent duty to get your soul saved if you are living in sin, before it’s too late. Repent and believe the gospel. Those who wait to be saved at the eleventh hour may die at 10.59th. Delay is dangerous.

Quote: Be engaged in profitable labour

Challenge: An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to fill my life with profitable activities, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
