Bible Reading: Amos 9:2-4 (KJV)
2Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:
4And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.
KEY VERSE: “Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down.” Amos 9:2
Message
John and her sister Jane lived in a one-room apartment with their parents. All they had were: two chairs, a TV set, a bed and a small refrigerator. One day they decided to play “Hide and seek game.” John was to seek while Jane would hide. In the first attempt, Jane hid by the side of the refrigerator and she was easily found. Secondly, she tried to hide in their small bathroom where John easily found her. Then she tried the back of the small chair that hardly hid her head: her eyes and those of John were still in contact. Jane then looked everywhere, and in disappointment, exclaimed “This place is too small; I have nowhere to hide.” Yes, the whole world is too small for the eyes of God. He sees everywhere, there is nowhere to hide from Him.
The Prophet Amos warned the children of Israel of the foolishness of their trying to hide their sins from God. Though in hell, in the firmament, even if they go into captivity the punishment of God would follow them there, unless they repent. Have you attempted to hide something from someone before? Is it so that they would not know you are a bad child? You cannot become good by hiding your sins, but by turning away from them. That is what Jesus wants you to do and He will forgive you.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, where can I hide from You. Please, forgive me all my wrong doings
FURTHER READING
1 John 1:7-10
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
