TOPIC: NOAH’S FAITH

TEXT: HEBREWS 6:1-7

1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

3 And this will we do, if God permit.

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

MEMORY VERSE: “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God” (HEBREWS 6:1).

Leah Sharibu, aged 14 was abducted on February 19, 2018 and was asked to renounce her Christian faith as a condition for her release by her abductors; but she held on to her faith. Her demonstration of faith aligns with the song of F. W. Faber and H. F. Hemy titled: “Faith of our Fathers”.

Noah was a man of unwavering faith in God; he maintained purity in spite of his impure environment and morally crippled world at his time. He was the only one God found perfect. God’s judgment (destruction by flood) came upon the apostate world, and only Noah and his immediate family got saved. Apostasy occurs with constant and willful sinning against God.

Christians can fall away from the faith, subjecting Christ to public disgrace and destroying the foundation of repentance that it becomes impossible to return to God like the people in the days of Noah. To avoid this, be careful, prayerful and watchful over your motives, thoughts and desires. Maintain complete dependence on God and seek more of His holiness. New converts in Christ should strive for perfection and Christian maturity.

QUOTE: Maintain complete dependence on God.

CHALLENGE: You can maintain purity and faith in God all your life.

PRAYER: Help me Lord, to live and walk in faith like Noah.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
