DCLM Sincere Milk 6 March 2025 — Obedience Pays
DCLM Sincere Milk 6 March 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Obedience Pays
Topic: Obedience Pays
Text: Hebrews 12:1-3
1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
Key Verse: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Message
As echoed in the chorus of that popular hymn, “Trust and obey”, obedience is the way to be truly happy. Anyone who desires to get to heaven must obey God’s word. Although obedience sometimes comes with some discomfort and pain, it is still the only way to please God. The gains of obedience are far greater than its pains. This was demonstrated by Jesus Christ, our perfect Example. The pain that sometimes comes with obedience to God is just for a moment and controlled by God.

On the other hand, the pain and sorrow of disobedience can be lifelong. For the sinner who dies in sin, the pain and sorrow are forever, with no hope and remedy. Adam and Eve wouldn’t have thought that their disobedience to God would cost them their fellowship with God, drive them away from God’s presence, and bring untold hardship and sorrow to the human race.
What is your decision today? Wouldn’t you rather obey God, even when it hurts? Your obedience is the true proof that you love God. He has promised to help. Ask for His help now.

Prayer for today: Dear Father, please help me to genuinely love and obey You in all things and at all times.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
