TEXT: 1 KINGS 14:1-5

1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick.

2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam; and get thee to Shiloh: behold, there is Ahijah the prophet, which told me that I should be king over this people.

3 And take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a cruse of honey, and go to him: he shall tell thee what shall become of the child.

4 And Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see; for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

5 And the LORD said unto Ahijah, Behold, the wife of Jeroboam cometh to ask a thing of thee for her son; for he is sick: thus and thus shalt thou say unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in, that she shall feign herself to be another woman.

Key Verse: “And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I pray thee, and disguise thyself, that thou be not known to be the wife of Jeroboam” (1 Kings 14:2).

MESSAGE:
God is all-powerful and all-knowing. There is nothing anyone can hide from God. This is the reason He is called The Omniscient God (The God that knows all things). The height of man’s intelligence can never be compared with the beginning of God’s wisdom.

It is funny and surprising then to see someone trying to deceive God. This was what King Jeroboam was trying to do. He was Solomon’s servant who was favoured by God and made king over ten tribes of Israel. Sadly, Jeroboam turned against God to serve idols. He also led Israel to serve strange gods.

Some children think they can hide their sins from God. No, you cannot, because God sees all things and He cannot be mocked nor deceived. As a believer, you should never attempt to deceive God or think you can hide anything from Him. He sees your thoughts before they become actions.

Be open to God and God’s people, particularly His ministers, who teach you His word. Be truthful and honest in all your dealings with people, and God will bless you.

Prayer: O Lord, help me to be humble, honest and upright before You and in all my dealings with people.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
