TOPIC: OUR BURDEN BEARER

TEXT: MATTHEW 11:28-30

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Key Verse: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

MESSAGE:

A burden bearer is someone who helps another to carry his or her load. The load could be physical, spiritual or academic. God never leaves us to bear our loads alone!

Beatrice was a faithful friend of Jesus. She was known for holy living by the teachers and all the students in her school. However, Beatrice was experiencing some difficulties in her academics and everyone feared that she may not pass her final examinations.

Few weeks to the examinations, Jane, a Christian Youth Corper, was posted to Beatrice’s school. Jane became aware of Beatrice’s problem, and offered to help. She organized other Christian Youth Corpers in the area who taught Beatrice various subjects and also prayed for her.

When the result came out, Beatrice passed all the subjects, and she proceeded to the University. Praise the Lord! Sister Jane helped Beatrice to carry her academic burden. Jesus is the believers’ burden bearer.

There are times when our load seems so heavy that we feel the next step will be to give up. The good news is that we have Jesus, the greatest burden bearer. Bring your burdens to Jesus and cast them on His strong shoulders.

Prayer: O Lord Jesus, You are my burden bearer. Please give me rest from all troubles of life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
