TOPIC: PASSIONATE ABOUT FELLOWSHIP
TEXT: HEBREWS 10:21-25
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
MEMORY VERSE: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (HEBREWS 10 25).
MESSAGE:
In one sense, the saint must walk alone. This refers to the spiritual journey he must embark upon. Every believer carries his own cross and travels his appointed path.
But, in another sense, the saint must travel in company. Every redeemed soul is born into a family of redeemed souls, and is a member of the body of Christ. This is the Christian community and the fellowship of saints. This fellowship or ‘koinonia’ is for the purpose of worship, communion, caring, sharing, edification and exhortation. There will be no steady spiritual growth without fellowship.
Some youths have formed the habit of skipping fellowship, both in school and in the local Church. With the advent of various technologies and the possibility of listening to messages using various electronic media, some youths have become apathetic towards fellowship. This is wrong.
We are duty-bound to play our roles towards touching the lives of other members of the fellowship. We must endeavor to be regular, punctual and active at each meeting. We must also strive to be united in soul, spirit and purpose with other members of the fellowship.
QUOTE: The saint must travel in company.
CHALLENGE: No steady spiritual growth without fellowship.
PRAYER: Help me Lord, not to forsake the fellowship of the brethren.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
