DCLM Sincere Milk  4 March 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Perfect to do God’s will

TOPIC: PERFECT TO DO GOD’S WILL.

TEXT: HEBREWS 13:18-21

18Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.

19But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

20Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

21Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

KEY VERSE: “Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (HEBREWS 13:21)

MESSAGE:

Prayer is an important part of daily Christian living. People of God in the past and now find it very helpful in finding grace and strength to do the will of God through prayer. Even Paul, an experienced and very hardworking man of God, asked the Christians to pray for him and his co-labourers. He prayed for them that God would make them perfect in every good work to do God’s will. He also prayed that they would do that which is well pleasing in God’s sight through Jesus Christ.

God has commanded us to be perfect as He is perfect. This can be a wonderful prayer point for us to pray for ourselves and other believers. The power to live a perfect life has been made possible by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Only Christ working in us by His Holy Spirit and the word of God can produce a life that pleases God. Let this be your prayer always.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, please make me perfect in every good work to do you will.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
