1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

KEY VERSE: “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not” John 1:5

Message

An important aspect of life is influence. Each one of us has influence over someone in this world. It is obvious that the more you lead, the more opportunities for influence you will have.

Both positive and negative influences have been recorded in the history of mankind. Good people have an effect on others for good and bad people have some influence that turn out bad. Everybody is being influenced by someone or something no matter who you are, nobody is an island. We see it all around us, everyone is contributing something to influence others. The question is not if we will influence others but rather what quality of influence we will generate in the lives of others.

As Christians, we should be positive influences. We should influence others for Christ. Let others see Jesus in you, let them see Him in your attitude, lifestyle, behaviour, from the way you treat others. Someday we will stand before the Lord Jesus and give an account of how we spend our lives. It would be wise to live in such a way that the Lord is able to say, “well done thou good and faithful servant!”

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, help me to be a positive influence to those around me.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
