DCLM Higher Everyday  6 December 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Power In Corporate Prayer

Topic: Power In Corporate Prayer

Text: Acts 4:31-34

31And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

34Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

Key Verse: “And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:31).

Message

We are all aware that there is power through prayer. God, and men of God in Bible times affirmed so. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16). The writer illustrated the statement with the story of Elijah, a man who prayed and shut the heavens and there was no rain. He prayed again and opened the heavens and rain fell down. That was the power of private, personal, and individual prayer. In the New Testament, the focus shifts from an individual to the Church, the body of Christ. When two or more people pray together, it is called corporate kingdom of Israel, the people of God? Why did he forget that in the However, in the case of Jesus Christ, the story is different. The name of Jesus was chosen even before He was born. And His name is symbolic.

It is a name that signifies His office, His ministry and His authority. There is power in His name. Through the name of Jesus, prayers are answered, sicknesses and diseases are healed, demons are cast out, problems are solved, and victory over sin, fears and failures are received. One day, at the mention of that name, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord. Faith in the name of Jesus is the password you need for your miracles. Believe!

Quote: There is power in the name of Jesus

Challenge: Through the name of Jesus, prayers are answered.

Prayer for today: Oh, for grace to trust Jesus more.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
