Topic: Pray To See And Enter
Text: Deuteronomy 34:1-8
1And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,
3And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.
4And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.
5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
6And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
7And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
8And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
Key Verse: “And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither” (Deuteronomy 34:4).
Message
God’s description of Moses in Numbers 12:3 as “very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth” as against his being denied entry into Canaan that he laboured so much for, serves as a great lesson for all believers. Moses abandoned the royalty of Egypt to suffer for his people. Yet God did not spare him for a miscarriage of divine instruction.
Today’s Bible text shows that God cannot change His word for any person no matter how much people revere Him or how much he/she has laboured in the kingdom. While Moses’ Canaan was physical, the believers’ Canaan today is heaven. Yet God will use the same criteria to determine their qualification to enter into His eternal city of gold. This calls for a daily review of one’s life in deep reflection and prayer before God. Pray for God’s grace to overcome whatever will hinder you from seeing and entering the heavenly Canaan.
Quote: God cannot change His Word
Challenge: Review your life daily before God.
Prayer for today: Oh God, grant me the grace to enter into heaven.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
