TOPIC: PRAYING FOR IGNORANT PEOPLE
TEXT: ROMANS 10:1-4
1Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
2For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
3For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
KEY VERSE: “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved” (ROMANS 10:1).
MESSAGE:
Biblically, ignorance simply indicates the lack of knowledge of God. A story was told of a group of drunken friends who went to pick up another friend. The mother of the friend they went to pick up accompanied her to the car. Noticing the drunken state of her friends, she said to the daughter, “go with God and may He protect you.” The daughter responded, “Only if He (God) travels in the trunk because inside here is full.” Hours later, the mother received news of their involvement in a fatal accident- they all died. To the amazement of the police, the car was completely wrecked except for the trunk which was intact. More surprising was the fact that the crate of eggs in the trunk was not affected.
Friend, this should motivate us to affectionately pray for the lost so that they may repent and be saved. Our schools and communities are teeming with lost youths who need our prayers for their salvation. Many of them live recklessly due to their ignorance of Christ. Remember, Paul was once a zealous religious sinner until Christ’s intervention. Pray for someone’s salvation today.
QUOTE: Affectionately pray for the lost
CHALLENGE: When last did you pray for lost souls?
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Dear Lord, save all the ignorant souls around me
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
