DCLM Higher Everyday 13 March 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Precepts for prosperity

TOPIC: PRECEPTS FOR PROSPERITY

BIBLE TEXT: JOB 36:5-11

5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.

7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction;

9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded.

10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

MEMORY VERSE: “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures” (JOB 36:11).

MESSAGE:

Man has always craved for advancement and progress. In his pursuit of a better life, the wicked often stray into dubious and forbidden territories. In their quest for instant wealth, modern-day youths despise God’s laws and commandments by dabbling into examination malpractices, certificate forgery, occultism, drug peddling, human trafficking, cybercrimes and other forms of social vices. Though the wicked might get rich and increase in goods, yet, according to the Scriptures, they will not last. Calamity will soon befall them.

God’s precept for prosperity is clearly spelled out in the Bible. The prosperity of saints is of God. It is balanced and grounded in the Scriptures. The prosperity of the saint is based on obedience to the word or counsel of the Lord. It is anchored to godly principles and practices.

As believers distance themselves from the wicked and their lifestyle, they are promised divine supply, answers to prayers, earthly heritage, abundance, divine guidance, support, preservation, security, protection and deliverance. This is balanced prosperity. When saints prosper, they must remain faithful to God and be considerate of others. And they must pass both their faith and wealth to their children.

QUOTE: The prosperity of saints is of God.

CHALLENGE: The prosperity of saints is anchored to godliness.

PRAYER: Lord, don’t allow me to envy the prosperity of the wicked.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
