DCLM Daily Manna 11 September 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Precepts For True Worship

TOPIC: Precepts For True Worship (DCLM Daily Manna 11 September 2025)

Key Verse: “Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened” (Ezekiel 46:1).

Text: Ezekiel 46:1-8

1Now these are the names of the tribes. From the north end to the coast of the way of Hethlon, as one goeth to Hamath, Hazarenan, the border of Damascus northward, to the coast of Hamath; for these are his sides east and west; a portion for Dan.

2And by the border of Dan, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Asher.

3And by the border of Asher, from the east side even unto the west side, a portion for Naphtali.

4And by the border of Naphtali, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Manasseh.

5And by the border of Manasseh, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Ephraim.

6And by the border of Ephraim, from the east side even unto the west side, a portion for Reuben.

7And by the border of Reuben, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Judah.

8And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the offering which ye shall offer of five and twenty thousand reeds in breadth, and in length as one of the other parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.

Message

Hannah Whitall Smith, a Christian revivalist, who was greatly influenced by John Wesley’s doctrine of Christian perfection and William E. Boardman’s The Higher Christian Life, said, “If the Lord sets you to guard a lonely post in perfect stillness from all active work, you ought to be just as content as to be in the midst of the active warfare. It is no virtue to love the Master’s work better than the Master’s will.”

In our text, God reiterated this observation, instructing that they should shut the gate to the inner court, which was towards the east, for six days, while on Sabbath and new moon days, they should open it. The prince, on these special days, would enter through the gate and stand in its vestibule to present his burnt and peace offerings, which symbolised his personal dedication and gratitude for God’s fellowship. Other worshippers would also worship at the same gate and not enter the inner court, which was only meant for the priest. God’s directive, which was for proper fellowship with Him and orderliness in His service, was never questioned, teaching us never to question His command.

As our text reveals that the prince and other worshippers offered unblemished material unto God, we are also required not to offer things stolen and ill-gotten as tithes and offerings unto God. As the prince’s responsibility was different from the priest’s, so also today, pastors, ushers, choristers, and house leaders, among others, have different responsibilities.

All we need is the willingness to obey the word of God since the Scripture is given for the perfecting of the saints. Our Lord amplifies this message of true worship further by declaring that “…the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him” (John 4:23).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Complete obedience to the Scripture sets the agenda for true worship.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
