DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 23 DECEMBER 2021 —Precious Free Periods
DCLM Higher Everyday 23 DECEMBER 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi —Precious Free Periods
TOPIC: PRECIOUS FREE PERIODS
TEXT: ECCLESIASTES 9:10-13
11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
12 For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.
13 This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
MEMORY VERSE: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest” (ECCLESIASTES 9:10).
MESSAGE
Many schools deliberately leave certain periods of the class timetable free of any lesson. However, it is done sometimes to avoid clash of lessons. They could be precious free periods.

While the unwise students play and loaf around during such periods, wise students busy themselves with activities that would enhance their academic performance. Be wise!
Have you graduated from one level of education and waiting for admission to an institution of higher learning? That is not a free period. You can learn a skill, take a short professional course or even attach yourself to an entrepreneur with a view to taking practical lessons on how to run a business.

Free wasteful periods exist only in the graves. Free periods can also be used for personal Bible study, meditation and prayers.
Watchman Nee wrote, “A diligent person is never idle, he is always looking for things to do. He is always pondering, praying, contemplating and considering before God as to what he should do.”
QUOTE: A diligent person is never idle.
CHALLENGE: Always occupy yourself in productive activities.
PRAYER: Teach me how best to use my time, Lord.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
