DCLM Higher Everyday 12 July 2026 — Readiness For The Rapture
Topic: Readiness For The Rapture
Bible Reading: Matthew 24:40-44 (KJV)
40And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father’s house:
42And I came this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go:
43Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink;
44And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master’s son.
KEY VERSE: Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 24:44).
Message
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ is an event that every believer must be prepared for. In Matthew 24:40-44, Jesus warns that His return will be sudden and unexpected. Two will be in the field—one will be taken, the other left. Two will be grinding at the mill—one will be taken, the other left. This highlights the importance of readiness, as there will be no time for last-minute preparations. To be ready for the rapture, one must have a genuine relationship with Christ through salvation. Living a life of holiness, prayer, and obedience to God’s Word ensures that we are constantly prepared for His coming. The parable of the wise and foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) further emphasises the necessity of being spiritually vigilant.

Are you ready for Christ’s return? The distractions of the world can make people complacent, but Jesus instructs us to watch and be sober. The Bible assures us that those who are faithful will be caught up with Him in glory. Let us live daily with eternity in view, ensuring that our hearts are right with God.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, help me to live in constant readiness for Your return. Amen.
CHALLENGE
Live in readiness for Christ’s return.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
