DCLM Sincere Milk 16 June 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Real Freedom
Topic: Real Freedom
Text: John 8:32-36
32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Key Verse: “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” John 8:36
Message
A farmer set a bait with which he caught a beautiful bird in his farm. He took the bird home and kept it a cage where it was fed three times a day. The bird enjoyed the food and the care he received from the farmer. One day, the bird saw through the cage other birds flying in the sky enjoying the natural habitat provided by God for them. This bird in the cage then became aware of the fact that he does not have true freedom and joy. One fateful day, the farmer forgot to lock the cage well. The bird then took that as a privilege and flew out of the cage to enjoy real freedom with other birds.

Like the bird, Satan the enemy of our soul has taken some children captive in his cage. Such children are given to all sorts of sinful habits like immorality, pornography, bad games, stealing, worldly fashion, cultism, bullying, bad association and disobedience to God’s righteous standard. Some want to be free from satanic cage but do not know the way out.
The good news to you today is that Jesus has made provision for your freedom. He is eagerly waiting to set you free if you will trust Him. All you need do is to repent and come out of your sinful lifestyle. Pray for forgiveness and cleansing of your sins with the precious blood of Jesus; accept Him as your personal Saviour and Lord. When you sincerely do this, Jesus will make you free and you will be free indeed.

Prayer for today: Lord, give me total freedom from sin.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
