Topic: Rest To Restore Energy

Text: Mark 6:30-32

30And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.

31And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

32And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

Key Verse: “And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while:  for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat” (Mark 6:31).

Message

Charles Gordon once remarked that, “If a dreamer is not focused, he will soon have too many irons in the fire. He dies and finds a lot of things only half done.” As a youth aiming to achieve many things in life, you must chart a plan for your time else you wear yourself out too soon. Your time-table is your alarm clock to effectively cover all areas of your work. Rest brings refreshment to your body. With a good rest at night you can begin fresh each new day.

In our text, our Lord Jesus called His disciples to rest. They had a very busy day that they could not eat at their right time. Rest is designed by God for man, even at creation He rested on the seventh day. Through Moses, He gave Israel a command to abstain from work on the Sabbath. Friend, remember that all work and no rest will affect your health status. A “desert place” represents a quiet solitary place suitable for meditation and rest from distractions. You too need rest after work.

Quote: Rest is designed by God for man

Challenge: Your Creator commands you to rest.

Prayer for today: Holy Father, renew my strength after rest, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
