KEY VERSE: “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD” (Psalm 119:1).

TEXT: Psalm 119:1-11 (KJV)

1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.

2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!

6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.

7 I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.

8 I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.

9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

John McCain, a son of a high- ranking officer in the United States Navy, was so poor academically that he finished fifth from the last position in his class in the Naval Academy. Since the future appeared bleak in the Navy, he opted for combat duty in the Vietnam war. He was captured by enemy forces and had his leg and arms broken and imprisoned in a local jail with no proper treatment. When his captors found that he was from a well known family, they offered him freedom on the condition that he would testify that the captors took the best care of him. McCain bluntly refused their offer of telling a lie for freedom. He had to spend five and half years in the prison. Years later, he became one of the most regarded senators of the United States.

The psalmist reels out the incontrovertible and indispensable necessities for travellers to heaven. They are those who are “undefiled in their pilgrimage… keep his testimonies… do no iniquity… walk in his ways… diligently keep his precepts… praise God with uprightness in heart… learn his righteous judgment… take heed to his word… seek him continually and hide his word in their heart.”

The divine prescription to get to heaven remains the same for all men in all ages. It is righteousness, that is, doing what is right in God’s sight all the time, not subjection to the ideas and philosophies of men. Those who desire to walk with God must be undefiled, consistently counting the cost and avoid deviating from it.

Overcoming sin day by day is the antidote to being corrupted by the world. Believers can achieve this by constantly renewing their mind with the word of God, praying and fervently preaching the gospel.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
None is smart enough to smuggle one dishonest person into heaven.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
