5Or all that about which he hath sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth, in the day of his trespass offering.
KEY VERSE: “Or all that about which he hath sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth, in the day of his trespass offering.” Leviticus 6:5
Message
John borrowed a story book from the library and forgot to return it. In church, years after he left primary school, he heard a message on restitution. He made up his mind to take back the book to his former school. The head teacher of the school was very happy with John.
When we become saved, God expects us to make right all our wrongs. Perhaps you took something that does not belong to you, return it to the rightful owner. If you told a lie or bore false witness against an innocent person or gossiped about your pastor, friend or teacher, then, you must do your restitutions and make things right with them.
The verse 3 of our text says “Or have found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein:”. You must return all that does not belong to you to the rightful owners and confess to people you have wrongfully accused. When you do these, God will bless you with peace, Joy and progress.
Oh Lord, grant me the courage to give back all that I have taken falsely and make my way right.
FURTHER READING
Luke 19:1-8
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
