DCLM Sincere Milk 17 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Righteousness: the greatest weapon
TOPIC: RIGHTEOUSNESS: THE GREATEST WEAPON
TEXT: PSALM 34:17-22
17The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
19Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
20He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
22The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
Key Verse: “The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles” (Psalm 34:17).
MESSAGE:
Napoleon Bonaparte, a French military leader, was quoted to have said, “God is on the side of the strongest battalion.” This statement has been proven wrong many times in the Bible and throughout history.
Righteousness has proved to be the strongest weapon, more stronger than anything else in the world. Many men and women of God have conquered kings and kingdoms without any weapon, but by just the presence of the Almighty God with them.
God is on the side of those who do the right thing. God will fight the battles of those who surrender their lives to Him and determine to do His will. Righteousness is still the greatest weapon of the believer.

In every battle involving the wicked and the righteous in the Bible, the righteous won because God’s eyes are upon the righteous and His ears are opened to their cry. Righteous David overcame all the enemies and troubles of his life because he consistently lived a holy life.
Surrender your life to God and walk with Him in holiness and righteousness. He will always be available to defend and shield you from all troubles of life. Be on the Lord’s side at all times to be victorious.
Prayer: Lord, help me to live a holy and righteous life all the days of my life.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
