ROCKY RELATIONSHIP

TEXT: COLOSSIANS 3:12-17

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

MEMORY VERSE: “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 CORINTHIANS 5:18).

A teacher thought about the importance of making people feel valued. So, he asked his class to imagine they were about to die and to write a note telling someone how and why they appreciated them.

One of the students who had a rocky relationship with her mom decided to write her. Her letter reads, “We’ve had some rough times and I haven’t always been a very good daughter, but I know I’m lucky to have you in my life.

“You are the best person I’ve ever known. And even when I disagree with you, I never doubt you love me and want what’s best for me. Thanks for not giving up on me.” When Evelyn’s mom read the note, she cried and hugged her tightly but said very little. She later wrote a note to her telling her that being her mother was, by far, the most important thing in her life.

God can heal any rocky relationship. Just pray, apologise and give reassurance of your trust in those offended. Are you bearing grudges with someone, “…even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

QUOTE: God can heal any rocky relationship.

CHALLENGE: Relationships grow better with Jesus.

PRAYER: Help me Lord, to set things right with everyone.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
