DCLM Higher Everyday 16 November 2022 — Saint awaiting his son
DCLM Higher Everyday 16 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Saint awaiting his son
TOPIC: SAINTS AWAITING HIS SON
TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 1:5-10
6And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
7So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
8For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
9For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
10And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
MEMORY VERSE: “And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come” (1 THESSALONIANS 1:10).
MESSAGE:
An anonymous quote which is pregnant with deep meanings reads: “Don’t look for a sign; read your Bible” (mybible.com). This is a terse admonition for all who would eventually make it to Heaven. Saints need to patiently wait for Christ’s coming as the date or time of this awesome event is not known.
Doubtless, the only Begotten Son of God, Jesus Christ, is ready to fulfil His promise to return and take His people home, to His eternal abode in Heaven. Satan and his agents are working assiduously to distract and destroy gullible Christians with innumerable lying signs and wonders. But those who are sincerely awaiting the return of Jesus Christ would be guided by His Word in all their dealings, and not with fables.
Probably you who are reading this message today are among the saints awaiting the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. You cannot be idle while waiting. You must be busy for your Master – read the Word, preach the Word and daily live out the Word in your school, neighbourhood and family. Let others see Jesus in you.
QUOTE: You cannot be idle while waiting.
CHALLENGE: Angels are prepared for the Rapture, what about you?
PRAYER: Help me, Lord, to keep expecting the sound of the trumpet.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
