DCLM Higher Everyday 15 November 2022 — Purging from Pollution

DCLM Higher Everyday 15 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Purging from Pollution

TOPIC: PURGING FROM POLLUTION

TEXT: PSALM 51:1-7

1(To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.) Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

MEMORY VERSE: “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow” (PSALM 51:7).

According to John Owen, “When the Holy Spirit sanctifies believers, he does a complete work in them.”

The fall of man in the Garden of Eden caused the loss of the image and likeness of God with which we were endowed at creation. A depraved heart, acquired as a result of this fall, translates into perpetual enslavement of mankind to sinful tendencies in life and, afterwards, eternal damnation.

But this hopeless situation was remedied by the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. Every sinner who now believingly appropriates the provisions of this death to him/herself, would be instantaneously forgiven and purged from all pollutions, within and without. Thus, the blood of Jesus Christ saves from sin, sanctifies wholly, making us fit for the Master’s service.

If you still live in the pollution of sin, turn to Christ now for the needed purging by His blood. Pray for this purging. Your friends also need purging. Take this message to them, and who knows, another Apostle Paul or the unnamed Samaritan woman at the well could be saved through you.

QUOTE: Your friends also need purging.

CHALLENGE: Would you approach the fountain of His Blood today?

PRAYER: O God, save and sanctify me by the blood of Jesus.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
