DCLM Higher Everyday 18 November 2025 — Saints And Submission
DCLM Higher Everyday 18 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Saints And Submission
Topic: Saints And Submission
Text: 1 Peter 2:13-17
13Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
15For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
16As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
17Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Key Verse: “Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme” (1 Peter 2:13).
Message
A newly converted senior student got to the fellowship and discovered that the president of the fellowship was a junior student living in his neighbourhood. He disdained him in his heart and refused to obey even simple instructions such as ‘Let’s stand up and pray.’ It didn’t take long before his pride sent him back to his sinful life. Saints are those who have repented of their sins, given their lives to the Lord and are living holy lives. They have submitted themselves to the lordship of Christ and ready to do whatever He commands them.

Submission is one of the marks of a truly converted soul. We learn it from our Lord Jesus Christ who wholly submitted to God, His earthly parents and the government of His day. Without humility and submission, you are not a true disciple of Christ. Christian submission is neither based on age nor gender. It is imperative for true believers to be submissive to the Bible, leaders in all congregations, parents, school authority and the government.
Quote: Be submissive to the Bible
Challenge: Submission is a mark of a truly converted soul.
Prayer for today: Lord, give me the grace to be submissive.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
