TOPIC: SAINTS FLEE FROM STRANGERS

TEXT: JOHN 10:1-5.

1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

2But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

3To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

MEMORY VERSE: “And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers” (JOHN 10:5).

MESSAGE:

Saints, in our text, refer to people who know Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and love Him. Saints are the sheep, while Christ is their Shepherd who guides and leads them in the path of safety. Saints are faithful witnesses of Christ in words and deeds. Strangers, on the other hand, are thieves, Satan and his agents, who come to steal, kill and destroy Christ’s sheep. Their goal is to lure the sheep away from Christ to perdition. Saints do not know the voice of strangers, nor have any relationship with them. Are you a saint of God?

If you are a saint, flee from strangers. Jesus, the good Shepherd, loves and cares for you. As a saint, you should have intimate relationship with Christ, know His voice, exclusively follow and obey Him. Like Christ, holiness should be your lifestyle. Flee worldly lusts such as, immorality, internet fraud, examination malpractice, certificate racketeering, robbery, kidnapping, and other social vices. These will strangle, destroy, and plunge you into hell. Heed the warning: flee from strangers.

QUOTE: Heed the warning: flee from strangers

CHALLENGE: Maintain an intimate relationship with Christ to the end.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Heed the warning: flee from strangers

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
