DCLM Higher Everyday 16 April 2024 — Save your Nation
DCLM Sincere Milk 15 April 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Save your Nation
Topic: Save your Nation
Text: Jeremiah 18:6-8
6O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
8If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
Key Verse: “If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.” Jeremiah 18:8
Message
It is the sum total of the actions of everybody in a nation that shows whether the nation is righteous or not. For example, many children of Israel died and the whole nation defeated because of the misconduct of only one person called Achan (Joshua 7:25). On the other hand, the righteous action of Phinehas turned away God’s punishment from all the children of Israel. (Numbers 25:8-11). God is calling every nation, that is, every person within that nation, to turn away from evil.

It is the individual’s repentance and righteousness that can save a whole nation from trouble and suffering. Those who are quick to blame the trouble of their nation on others while they continue in their wickedness are not doing their nation any good. Your righteousness will challenge others to seek to be godly. Do everything you can to turn others to righteousness. This is only possible when you repent from your bad doings, prayerfully preach the love of Jesus to others around you and lead them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Prayer for today: Lord, by Your grace I will live a godly life and help others to love You so that our country can be saved from judgment.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
