DCLM Sincere Milk  2 November 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Seek God With All Your Heart

Topic: Seek God With All Your Heart

Text: Jeremiah 29:11-14

11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

14And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.

Key Verse: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

Message

To seek means to diligently look for something or someone. God is calling all men, women and children to come to Him. By seeking God, it means getting to know Him through His word, His Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. Nothing good can come to you without you making effort. Seek God with all your heart by reading His word, meditating on it and obeying all His commandments. Seeking God is more than five minutes prayer, when you sense danger or you are in trouble. It is taking time every day (morning and night) to have fellowship with Him in prayer and reading the word.

God delights in seeing His children come to Him with their burdens; He rejoices when you put your confidence in Him and He is happy when you pour out your heart to Him. Be diligent and consistent in seeking the Lord and you will find Him ever ready, willing and waiting to attend to you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
