TOPIC: SHINING FOREVER
TEXT: DANIEL 12:1-3
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Key Verse: “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever” (Daniel 12:3).
MESSAGE:
To shine is to show rays of light, to be extremely good at an activity or skill. It means to be special, spectacular or famous. A student shines when he or she is called out as the best in behaviour and in his or her academic performance. Such student usually enjoys the respect of others.
One can shine in sports too. Imagine what happens to an athlete when he finds himself on the medals’ podium as the winner of a particular sporting event. He will be so glad and, sometimes, shed tears of joy.
One thing is common to shinning in the things of the world, whether in academics or sports, or in any other human activity. The glory is temporary, and most times, the shining star becomes a forgotten hero after a short while.
However, shining in God’s kingdom does not come to an end. It is when a believer who has worked for Jesus gets to heaven where Christ is waiting to reward His faithful followers.
As a believer, when you are living a holy and righteous life, and you are seriously engaged in the work of turning sinners to righteousness, you will shine as the stars through eternity. Keep labouring for your Master so that you can shine forever.
Prayer: Lord, give me grace to live a holy life and succeed in the work of winning souls so that I can shine through eternity.
Further Reading: Matthew 13:41-43
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
