DCLM Higher Everyday 3 December 2022 — Sound Speech
DCLM Higher Everyday 3 December 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Sound Speech
TOPIC: SOUND SPEECH
TEXT: TITUS 2:7-13
MEMORY VERSE: “In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you” (TITUS 2:7, 8).
MESSAGE:
A man went to listen to a minister preach, with the intent of counting his grammatical errors, but as the message went on, he found nothing to use against the man of God, but was astonished at the sound doctrine, speech and language; he got engrossed in the teaching and at the end, gave his life to Christ.
Sound doctrine is important; it is the teaching that agrees with the Bible. Jesus expects us to build our lives on the solid rock of His teaching, and not on man’s ideology. Develop yourself to preach the truth so that your critics will be silenced.
People often observe your behaviour and the way you talk. The Bible says, “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” It is better to think before we speak.
Remember that the believers’ words and actions are subject to criticism by the world. Speak the truth, avoid slander and negative criticisms. Let your words build and not destroy people as you are the light of the world.
QUOTE: Let your words build and not destroy.
CHALLENGE: Your light should shine through your sound speech.
PRAYER: My God, empower me to please You by my words and character.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
