Text — 1 Samuel 3:1-7

1And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

2And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;

3And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;

4That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

5And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.

6And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.

7Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.

Key Verse: “Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.” 1 Samuel 3:7

Message

Stay tuned is a common statement we often hear on radio or television. It is a way of wooing listeners to continue with that station. It could be said to be a marketing strategy for broadcasting stations to stay connected to as many customers as they can reach. God is talking to us but are we listening? The fact that God talks to us should not be a surprise. God has been talking to people from the time He created us – Adam, Abraham, Job, Moses, Joshua, David, Samuel and all the other prophets. The secret of hearing from God is being ready to hear and obey.

God always goes straight to the point. Study about God’s conversation with people in the Bible and you will see. Sometimes, learning about the past helps us to stay tuned for our future conversation with God. Have you heard God speaking to your heart lately? What is He saying? What is He asking you to do -Accept Jesus? Read your Bible regularly? Get involved in evangelism? Whatever He tells you to do, you must promptly obey. Obedience brings blessings. It is also important that you continue to listen to God. When you stop listening to God, you may miss very vital information from Him. So, stay tuned!

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to listen to Your word and to obey.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
