DCLM Sincere Milk 4 April 2023 — Still small voice
DCLM Sincere Milk 4 April 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Still small voice
TOPIC: THE STILL SMALL VOICE
BIBLE TEXT: 1 KINGS 19:9-13
10And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
11And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
13And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
KEY VERSE: “And after the earthquake a fire: but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12).
MESSAGE:
Have you ever heard God speak to you? Do you know God speaks to His children? It is really very possible to hear the voice of God in every situation. Elijah had been used by God to destroy the altar of Baal and its prophets in a battle between the power of darkness and the living God. This challenge turned the hearts of the people back to God. Then they declared that *“The Lord, He is God”.
However, shortly after, Elijah was threatened by Jezebel the wicked queen. Elijah had to run for his life. This made him depressed, discouraged and downcast. He needed to hear from God to know what next to do. Eventually, God spoke to him in a language he could understand in a “still small voice”.
God still speaks today. Are you feeling downcast or need guidance on anything? Tell God to speak to you, He will surely show you the way out. Remember, you can only hear the still small voice of God through prayers and constant meditation on His word.
PRAYER: God, please speak Your mind to me, I am ready to obey.
FURTHER READING: Isaiah 30:21
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
