TOPIC: SUBMIT TO GOD

BIBLE TEXT: JAMES 4:6-10

6But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

9Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

KEY VERSE: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

MESSAGE:

Friends of Jesus are those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord. He is our Saviour because He saved us from sin and its punishment. He is our Lord because He is our Master and has authority over us. He directs and leads us to do what He wants. An evidence that we are friends of Jesus is a life of obedience and submission to God.

Some children say that they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, but do not submit to God. They do things their own way. They also do not submit to their godly parents and teachers. This should not be so.

To make it to heaven, we must submit to God, submit to His word, our godly parents and teachers. God demands obedience from everyone. God asked Abram to leave where he was and go to a new place that He was to show him. Abram obeyed and was greatly blessed by God. Like Abram, you must become a friend of Jesus and live a life that pleases Him. God will help you to be submissive if you ask Him. Pray to Him now.

PRAYER: Father, I give my heart to You, help me to obey You and do all that You want me to do in Jesus’ Name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
