DCLM Sincere Milk 14 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Taste And See
Topic: Taste And See
Text: Psalm 34:8-11
8O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
9O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
10The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
11Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Key Verse: “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” Psalm 34:8
Message
Everyone thought it was somebody’s birthday. But no, Tonia’s mom just decided to give the family a special treat. But something funny happened. Tonia just sat by the dining table admiring her plate of fried rice and chicken without eating it. “You cannot tell how delicious the food is unless you taste of it, Tonia” Tonia’s mom exclaimed. Taste-and-see means, experience and know.

No matter how keenly you look, you cannot through looking or imagining tell the taste of a palatable meal. And you cannot equally tell how good and kind someone is to you unless you, in a godly manner, get close to him or her. That is what the psalmist is telling us. You must taste before you can see how good the Lord is. How do we have a taste of the Lord?
First, have a taste of His forgiveness as you turn away from your bad doings and make the Lord your Saviour and Friend. This experience opens the door for the goodness of the Lord to flow into your life. The goodness of His provision, protection and His presence to cheer and to guide you flows into your life as you daily fellowship with the Lord.

Prayer for today: Lord, You are sweet, caring and loving, teach me to know You more.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
