DCLM Higher Everyday 5 February 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Teens And The Word

Topic: Teens And The Word

Text: 2 Timothy 3:14-17

14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Key Verse: “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him” (1 John 2:5).

Message

A teen is a young person transiting from childhood to adulthood. It is a learning age and requires carefulness about what to learn. True learning is from the Holy Scriptures. Matthew Henry said: “If Timothy would adhere to the truth as he had been taught, this would arm him against the snares and insinuations of seducers.” It is not enough to learn that which is good but we must continue in it, and preserve it to the end. The teens who would acquaint themselves with the things of God, and be assured of them, must know the Holy Scriptures.

If we would know the Holy Scriptures, we must read and search them daily as the noble Bereans did. Only Holy Scriptures can make us wise unto salvation. We should hold fast the faithful Word. The Holy Scriptures come from a Holy God, and were delivered to us by holy men. It contains holy precepts designed to make us holy to lead us on the way to heavenly happiness. If we obey the Holy Scripture, it will make us perfect and thoroughly prepared for good works.

Quote: It will make us perfect

Challenge: The Scripture is the mind of God.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to live by the Scriptures.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
