DCLM Sincere Milk 5 August 2024 — The Act of Giving
DCLM Sincere Milk 5 August 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Act of Giving
Topic: The Act of Giving
Text: 2 Corinthians 9:6-12
6But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
11Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
12For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
Key Verse: “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
Message
Janet grew up with her grandmother and one thing she has learnt over the years which has also become a part of her is the act of giving. She could recollect how Grandma would package foodstuffs and other household needs and deposit at the usher’s stand before church service starts with the names of the recipients. You need to see the joy on the faces of the people as if God had literally visited them since they don’t know the direct giver. Grandmother in turn never lacked anything, God always provided for her needs.

God has a way of meeting our everyday needs when we give to others. He gives in measures far above the ones we give to Him and others because He has all things in abundance and we cannot possibly outgive Him. Our giving can be in form of material possessions, time, talents, visitation, praying for others or offering sound words of advice. Be a blessing to someone today. Give whatever you can afford no matter how small.

Prayer for today: God help me to give willingly to you and to others.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
