TOPIC: The Anointing Suffices (DCLM Daily Manna 22 March 2022)
TEXT: Isaiah 10:20-34 (KJV)
20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
23 For the Lord God of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
24 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
26 And the Lord of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:
29 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.
30 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.
31 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.
32 As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
33 Behold, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.
34 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
KEY VERSE: “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” – (Isaiah 10:27)
MESSAGE:
God’s mercy has always revealed itself even where there is a promise of punishment against His people when they err. This was a recurring and significant theme in God’s assignments to the prophets when He had a message for His people after they had gone into sin.

Judah faced divine ostracism in the days of King Ahaz who sealed a pact with Assyria in order to gain protection from Israel and Syria. These were not deals that pleased the Lord. He said He would scourge Zion through external forces because of their action. Yet, He did not intend to wipe them out of existence. A remnant would be preserved because they were a people of covenant, upon whom there was “anointing” that could destroy yokes.
People who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus have a special seal or anointing on them that guarantees that no yoke or curse of the enemy affects them as long as they remain holy and faithful to Him and “abstain from every appearance of evil”. Consecrated believers connected to Jesus through His shed blood will survive and overcome any onslaught. The enemy’s “yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
Since there is no unconditional security in the plan of God, our part, as His chosen ones, is to “watch and pray” and not to fall away from the “narrow path” where we are guaranteed the protection promised by the Lord. The passover blood can only protect those who abide in the house marked by it. Outside the coverage of Christ’s blood, there is no true and lasting security.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Stay in the Lord’s circle to the end.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
