TOPIC: THE BEATITUDE – 3

BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 5:7-10

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

MEMORY VERSE: “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy” (MATTHEW 5:7).

MESSAGE:

The law of nature and the Bible have made it clear that whatever a man sows, that is exactly what he will reap. This is so true that a man cannot plant a mango seed and after see that orange fruits are found on the tree that came out of the mango seed. The seed can only produce a mango tree and mango fruits.

This explains the message of Christ to the merciful as they shall obtain mercy here and in eternity. We are in a generation where many youths are becoming more and more unmerciful in their dealings with school mates and those living with them in the neighborhood.

If you are a merciful Christian, you will be treated with mercy. Disappointment and inhuman treatment from those you showed mercy, should not deter you; since God will show you mercy for your faithfulness in keeping to His word. The merciful are full of compassion and pity towards those who are suffering in sin and sorrow. They demonstrate their merciful attitude by preaching the gospel to sinners.

QUOTE: The merciful are full of compassion.

CHALLENGE: God wants you to show mercy.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to be merciful to others.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
