TOPIC: THE BULLDOGS TENACITY
TEXT:MATTHEW 11:7-13
8But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.
9But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
10For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
MEMORY
VERSE: “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12).
MESSAGE
Bulldogs are reputed for incredible ferociousness, courage and tenacity of grip. With protruded jaws and intended nose, they’re able to bite and hold on to something almost indefinitely, refusing to let go once they’ve locked on. You can try to pull something out of a bulldog’s mouth but it won’t let go and won’t give up. That’s tenacity!
As believers in God’s promises and His Kingdom we need to be like the bulldog. Why? The devil, our enemy, always tries to prevent us from processing our God-given blessings and inheritance through constant pressure, frustration, trials and discouragement. He want us to give up the good fight of faith. But we won’t quit, we’ll hold on to God’s word with tenacious faith. Tenacious faith doesn’t just believe- but is active, aggressive, persistent, confident and commanding. It is persistently reaching for its goal. Like a bulldog, bite on God’s word with a grip that cannot be shaken off by false prophets and bad circumstances. Resist every sinful pressure. Perseverance leads to success, so don’t let go of your Christian race, academic Pursuits and godly desires.
QUOTE: _ Perseverance leads to success
CHALLENGE: Like the bulldog, be tenacious and undefeatable.
PRAYER: Dear God, give us the bulldog tenacity to conquer.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
