Text: Matthew 13:44-46
44Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
45Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

Message
There is cost to everything that is valuable. The food that you eat, the house you live in and other things that you enjoy come at a cost your parents or someone else paid for. Unlike earthly things, salvation from sin and eternity with God in heaven come at a very great cost that no one could pay for except Jesus Christ. Salvation from sin is the greatest treasure everyone must seek to possess. Sinners must give up their sins, repent and turn away from all of them to have forgiveness and get to heaven at last. Friends of Jesus must daily obey and live to please God to remain Jesus’ friends and make it to heaven at last. This means you must not allow in your heart and body, thoughts and things that are against the word of God.
Just like the man in the Bible passage gave up all he had by selling them, for him to have what he needed to pay and get the treasure he wanted, so also must you be willing to and indeed pay whatever it will cost to make it to heaven. Sufficient grace to make it to heaven is available for you, if you would meditate on God’s word and pray to Him for grace to always obey His word.

Prayer for today: Dear Lord, help me today to obey You and do all that You want me to do to get to heaven.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
