DCLM Sincere Milk 13 May 2022 — The courage of a Conqueror
DCLM Sincere Milk 13 May 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The courage of a Conqueror
TOPIC: THE COURAGE OF A CONQUEROR
TEXT: JOSHUA 14:6-13
7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
Key Verse: “And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance” (Joshua 14:13).
MESSAGE:
It has been forty and five years since Moses first sent out twelve spies to check out the promised land. While ten of the spies became afraid and discouraged the hearts of the people, the remaining two were courageous enough to stand for God. Joshua and Caleb were not afraid to fight giants, although the other spies were.
Caleb was now eighty-five years old, but was still as strong as he was forty years before. Because of Caleb’s courage and faithfulness, God promised him the hill country of Hebron. Now, the old man was still ready to fight battles and take possession of his land. So, Joshua blessed him and he went out and possessed his possession.
Maybe you are facing giant problems at school (low academic performance), giant difficulties at home (poverty, lack or sickness), or giant troubles with your friends (rejection). Try and see God above all your giants. God can give you the wisdom and strength to face giants in a way that you will not be able to do on your own.
At school, stand for righteousness when they are making jest of God’s word. In your neighbourhood, fight the good fight of faith by preaching the gospel of peace to sinners. Be diligent in your studies and trust God for success. He will not let you down.
Prayer: Lord, help me to focus on You and not on my problems so that I will be a winner.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
