DCLM Sincere Milk 10 March 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The danger of procrastination
TOPIC: THE DANGER OF PROCRASTINATION
BIBLE TEXT: ACTS 24:22-25
23And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.
24And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.
25And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
KEY VERSE: “…. Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee” (Acts 24:25).
MESSAGE:
Wikipedia defines procrastination as the action of unnecessarily and voluntarily delaying or postponing something despite knowing that there will be negative consequences for doing so. Procrastination is the gulf between a person and the achievement of a set goal.
The story was told of a man who needed to borrow money to accomplish a very important task. He quickly made his way to a lending firm, where he met them having a party. He sat down with other guests and enjoyed the fun. Few minutes later, another man rushed in and met everybody in the celebration mood and was asked to join them; he refused and said first thing first. He needed to see the loan officer, he was directed, and he got the money he needed, then joined the party. The other man then realized he actually came there for a loan too, he got up to meet the loan officer who told him that the last offer for that period had just been taken by the man who came while he was eating. What a regret!
Procrastination brings sorrow, pain, missed opportunities and lots more. Governor Felix had a great opportunity to be saved after Paul preached to him but he postponed the chance to a more convenient time which never came. Have you also been putting off your salvation for a later time? Repent of all your sins today and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, tomorrow may be too late.
PRAYER: Dear Father, I turn away from procrastination and all forms of sin; save me Lord.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
