TOPIC: THE FINAL SELECTION

TEXT: MATTHEW 25:32-46

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

MEMORY VERSE: “And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats” (MATTHEW 25:32).

MESSAGE

In society, leaders are selected through a process with rules aimed at getting the best among many candidates. Some selections go through stages to determine those who meet the desired qualities.

School competitions in games, essay writing or oral talks go through stages until the final day of choosing the winner(s). The choice of King David in his family house was divinely directed through Prophet Samuel without any written rules.

As we expect the second coming of our Lord Jesus, our text today gives us a peep into the selection style which the Lord will adopt by Himself. The shepherd selects his flock either by kind, colour or size.

The Lord’s final selection conditions are clearly set in the Holy Bible, and only those who meet them shall be qualified by Him. Only the righteous are chosen to inherit the kingdom of God. Are you prepared for His choice?

God is an impartial Judge who keeps daily records of everyone. The final selection begins eternal bliss for the holy and eternal sorrow for the wicked.

QUOTE: Only the righteous are chosen.

CHALLENGE: Are you ready for God’s selection?

PRAYER: Lord, help me to meet Your standard of selection.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
