DCLM Sincere Milk 28 June 2023 — The Fruit Bearing Life Part 1- Love
DCLM Sincere Milk 28 June 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Fruit Bearing Life Part 1- Love
Topic: The Fruit Bearing Life Part 1- Love
Text: 1 John 4:7-12
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
Key Verse: “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God” 1 John 4:7.
Message
The first and greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and then your neighbour as yourself. God is love. He so loved mankind that He gave His Son Jesus to die for us. The word “love” is being so commonly used and interpreted today that a lot of people do things that God hates all in the name of love.
A true or genuine love comes from a heart that is connected to Jesus. God’s love has the following characteristics: It is kind, does not envy, it’s not proud, suffers long, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in sin or iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. It gives and cares for neighbours, friends in school and church etc. Can you say you truly love? God’s desire is that you accept His love by turning away from all sins. Then go forth and share the love with others.

Prayer for today: Lord, plant Your love in my heart and let me love like Christ.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
