DCLM Sincere Milk  22 October 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The fruit bearing life part5 – Goodness

Topic: The fruit bearing life part5 – Goodness

Text: Galatians 6:6-10

6Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Key Verse: “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

Message

Joseph’s brothers were very cruel and wicked. They could not control their envy for him, so they sold him off into slavery. However, Joseph showed goodness to his brothers when he had the opportunity. He not only saved them but rescued the whole generation from hunger, starvation and famine. It takes someone with the heart of Jesus to freely forgive and still be good to people who have hurt or treated him badly.

Jesus, during His earthly ministry, was going everywhere doing good and delivering all that were oppressed. He kept doing good because of His love for the whole world. He died on the cross and resurrected the third day. Even today, He’s still doing good, saving sinners, healing the sick and delivering the oppressed. He is our perfect example, we must follow His steps and do good to everyone.

Prayer for today: Lord, please help me to be good always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
