TOPIC: THE GIFT OF THE CROSS – 1
TEXT: MARK 15:22-26
22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.
25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Key Verse: “And it was the third hour, and they crucified him” (Mark 15:25).
MESSAGE:
Jesus Christ suffered, shed His blood and died on the cross. The people who crucified Him must have concluded that the end had come. They did not realize that beneath the cross where Jesus died are hidden gifts more precious than gold.
These gifts reveal the depth of God’s love for mankind. They were not wrapped in paper but with passion, not decorated with ribbon but sprinkled with the blood of Jesus. Have you discovered these precious gifts that come through the cross? If no, you must seek and benefit from them.
The first major gift is Peace With God. Sin has made man to become the enemy of God. But the cross has crossed out the enmity between us and God. By His death on the cross, Jesus made peace between the Holy God and a lost sinner.
Have you made peace with God? If no, you need to repent of all your sins now. Confess them to God, ask for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Open your heart wide and ask Jesus to come in to be your Saviour and Friend.
Now, you will experience an overflowing peace. Then go forth and tell sinners to come and make peace with God. Also, follow peace with all men.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I appreciate and accept the gift You have purchased for me with the blood of Jesus.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
